Welcome!

Hello and welcome!! I’m a Child of Deaf Adults (CODA), retired American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter, and now a novelist inspired by my daughter, a published author and creative writing teacher. My lifelong experience bridging Deaf and hearing worlds continues to shape the stories I write.

My first novel, CODA Spy (currently in progress), grows out of that connection. Set in Washington, D.C. during the Cold War summer of 1983, it follows Maggie, a CODA just out of high school, who discovers her family is entangled in secrets that plunge her into an FBI mission at the height of international tension. Straddling two worlds, Deaf and hearing, she’s caught between where she belongs and where she’s needed most.

The seed for CODA Spy was planted decades ago during a conversation with fellow CODAs. We were laughing about how so many of us, as kids, secretly suspected our Deaf parents could actually hear. Then someone added, “We thought they were just pretending because they were spies!” That idea lodged in my imagination and has been simmering for more than 35 years, waiting for the right moment to grow into a novel.
